How do I find out about current Spokane County employment opportunities?
Spokane County accepts applications for open recruitments only (resumes are not accepted in lieu of completing the appropriate application materials); thus, it is extremely important to monitor (on a weekly basis) current employment opportunities.
- Call the 24-hour Spokane County telephone job hotline at (509) 477-JOBS
- Go online to the employment section of the Spokane County Website: www.spokanecounty.org/hr (you're already here!)
- Visit the Spokane County Human Resources Office (directions & hours listed above)
- Scan the employment classified ads in the Sunday edition of the Spokesman Review
I see a position I'm interested in- how do I apply?
If you find a position for which you are qualified and wish to apply, it is helpful to obtain a copy of the recruitment posting (available here on the County website or in the HR Office). All information pertinent to the recruitment is listed on the posting, so it is important to read through the announcement in its entirety prior to applying. Follow the application instructions carefully and completely; submit all required application materials, as listed on the posting (no more, no less). All materials must be received in the Human Resources Department by 4:30pm on the closing date of the recruitment (no postmarks are accepted).
Can I submit a generic resume instead of filling out an application?
No- we do not accept resumes in lieu of the required application materials for each individual recruitment. Please review the complete recruitment posting prior to submitting application materials to ensure you submit all the materials requested.
There are several positions I am interested in- can I submit 1 application to be considered for all of them?
Unfortunately, no- you'll need to apply separately for each recruitment. While a County application will be required for all recruitments, additional required materials may vary (i.e. resume, cover letter, supplemental questionnaire, etc.). Please review the complete recruitment posting for each position prior to submitting application materials. Submit only those materials requested.
Can I apply on-line?
Not yet. Hopefully this feature will be coming soon, but for the time being we can only provide the application materials- you'll need to download, complete and return them to our office (along with any other required application materials) in person, via fax or mail.
I've applied for a position, but haven't heard anything. How can I check the status of a recruitment?
The entire recruitment/selection process may take several weeks. Due to the volume of applications processed, candidates are typically not notified of the status of their application. You may, however, contact the Human Resources Officer at (509) 477-5750 at any time to request an update on the status of a particular recruitment. We will soon add this information to our website, as well.
I've moved and/or changed my telephone number- how can I update the information on my application?
Contact the Human Resources Office at (509) 477-5750 to have your record updated.
Where can I find general information about positions at Spokane County and their salary ranges?
This information is new to our website! From the Human Resources page, follow the link to the Job Descriptions and Pay / Plan
. This will provide a full listing of all classifications at Spokane County (with links to the job descriptions), along with the corresponding salary ranges. Please note- these are not necessarily positions for which we are currently accepting applications.
Where do County employees park?
Parking at the County campus is very limited. Employees are encouraged to ride the bus and/or carpool to work (please visit the Commute Trip Reduction link for more information on alternative modes of transportation).
