City/County Historic Landmarks Commission

Purpose of the Historic Landmarks Commission

Provides stewardship of the historic and architecturally significant properties in the City and County of Spokane.

Meeting Information

City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd, Spokane WA, City Council Briefing Room

Meets the third Wednesday of every month at 2:00 pm

Member Specifications

Members: 11

Term: 3

Details: The members include:

  • An architect who is registered in the state of Washington
  • A state-certified general real estate appraiser
  • Two historians with appropriate degrees or equivalent experience
  • A professional archaeologist or anthropologist with appropriate degrees
  • An owner or managing agent in a fiduciary capacity of real estate in Spokane's central business district
  • An experienced preservation construction specialist
  • Two at-large county residents appointed by the County Commissioners
  • Two at-large city residents appointed by the City Council

Responsibilities/Time Commitment

The Commission has the responsibility of designating historic landmarks and districts to the Spokane Register of Historic Places and of managing those landmarks once designated.

Meets monthly for an average of 3 hours per meeting.
