What is GIS?

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a collection of computer hardware, software, and geographic data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information (source: GIS.com). 

The GIS within Spokane County is a tool utilized by all County departments.  It assists decision makers and staff in making informed decisions regarding the business functions of Spokane County departments.  The County’s GIS database is utilized by staff to generate maps and conduct various types of analysis.
