Evening Reporting Program (ERP)

The Alternative Detention Evening Reporting Program is a 1-30 day program
developed as an alternative to 24 hour secure detention for juvenile offenders.

Goals

  • To hold Juvenile Offenders accountable;
  • To increase skills of Juvenile Offenders to avoid further law or court order violations.

Expectations

  • The Alternative Detention Program is a very interactive, hands on program
  • You will be required to participate in all aspects of the course.  This will include possible role-playing, group discussions and a physical fitness component.
  • You will focus on skill building techniques to help prevent a re-offense or future probation violations.  We will help you look at your risk factors and develop a plan to reduce these.

RULES

  • No assaultive or intimidating behavior.
  • No gang-related talk, behavior, clothing or writing.
  • Maintain satisfactory effort in performing all assignments.
  • Follow the directions of the Instructor without arguing.
  • No profanity or disrespect toward any person in the group.
  • No possession or use of drugs, alcohol or cigarettes on the premises.
  • No contraband in the facility.
  • NO SLEEPING.  KEEP YOUR HEAD UP.  BE ALERT!
  • Display a positive image and attitude.
  • No excessive use of fragranced products, cologne or perfume.
  • Make sure your contributions are related to the lesson.  DO NOT ask questions to distract the group.

Earn your passing grade.

Consequences for failing to succeed in the program:

If you have been to Court and have been ordered to Alternative Detention, failure to complete the program will result in your being detained.  You will not get credit for any time that you spent in Alternative Detention.

If you have been sent to Alternative Detention by your Probation Officer, failure to complete the program will result in a formal violation hearing being scheduled, and the Judge may impose a further consequence for you.

Remember, you have been given this opportunity because your Probation Officer
and the Judge believe that you can learn from this experience

Unacceptable Dress or Attire

  • Personal writing on skin or clothing
  • Visible Undergarments
  • Short shorts
  • Hats, bandanas, head coverings
  • Halter tops
  • Clothing or jewelry promoting drug or alcohol use
  • Combs or picks worn in the hair
  • Offensive symbols on clothing
  • Promotion of gang colors
  • Altered shoestrings
  • Excessive jewelry or chains

What NOT to bring with you:

  • Electronic devices
  • Weapons
  • Cigarettes/lighters

Program Hours

It is a Tuesday-Friday program held from 3:30-7:45 pm.  You must attend each day that you are assigned in order to successfully complete the program. Please be aware that if you do not attend classes, you may be placed in detention. 

DINNER IS PROVIDED

 

MEDICATION

If the youth has medication they must take while attending the course, the medication must be given by the parent to the staff member.

Program location and arrival time

  • Report to the lobby of the downtown YMCA at 3:30 p.m. unless special permission is given due to transportation issues.  Failure to attend or arriving after check-in will result in the loss of program opportunity.
  • PICK UP TIME IS 7:45 P.M.
    Please be sure that you have provided an emergency contact number.
  • Where is the Downtown YMCA?
  • Driving Directions:
    • From I90, take the Monroe St. exit 280
    • Turn north off the freeway
    • Turn right on Main St.
    • Turn left on Howard St.
    • Turn left on Spokane Falls Blvd
    • Turn right on Post St.
    • Parking lot on right in Riverfront Park before crossing the Post St. Bridge.
