The Board of County Commissioners will host state and local officials, veterans, and members of the Land Surveyors’ Association of Washington and Idaho for a special “dedication” ceremony/celebration for the restoration of the Courthouse Tower, flag pole and Latitude Pier on Thursday, November 5th beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the new customer service center (first floor of the courthouse). The celebration will include representatives from the Washington State Office of Archeology and Historic Preservation, elected officials from neighboring municipalities, Fairchild Air Force Base, and a host of other dignitaries.
During the celebration, the Board of County Commissioners will be presented with a United States flag, donated by the Downtown Spokane Exchange Club, and the county office of Veterans’ Services has donated a POW-MIA flag. The celebration will also include displays of archival materials related to the courthouse, and a special display of antique surveying equipment that was used in the 1920s (courtesy of the Land Surveyors’ Association of Washington).
The public is invited to join us for this very special celebration on Thursday, November 5th beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the customer service center (first floor of the courthouse). Use the west entrance to the courthouse and allow enough time to go through security/metal detector.
