Park Service Reductions

The following Park Service Reductions will be in effect from May 25th through September 16th, 2014. All parks are open "for access" seasonally from April 15th through October 15th. No services will be provided after September 16th.

Level I Park Service Reductions in Detail*

Parks shall open "for access" on April 15th and remain open through October 15th. Effective for 2014, services will be provided May 25th through September 17th as follows: 

  • Garbage collection and disposal will be provided. 
  • Restroom cleaning will occur, but will be reduced to 1-3 times per week.
  • Lawn Care (Fertilizer Application and Aeration) will be limited.
  • Staff will continue to respond to reports of vandalism, but response times may increase.
  • Miscellaneous inspections of equipment and facilities such as fences, signs, backstops, drinking fountains, play equipment, benches, tables, and garbage cans will occur 1-3 times per week.
  • Tree maintenance and shrub care will be limited. 
  • Parking lots will be swept and graded not less that once a year.
  • Weed trimming will be limited. 
  • Irrigation of lawn areas will be provided.
  • Visits to inspect & adjust sprinklers, time clocks, address dry spots, and complete minor irrigation repairs will occur 1-3 times per week.
  • Noxious weed control will be completed as mandated by law within the Department’s capabilities.
  • Electricity will be activated; Tripped breakers may not be reset for days.

Level II Park Service Reductions in Detail*

Parks shall open for access on April 15th and remain open through October 15th. Effective for 2014, services as applicable will be provided or otherwise limited as defined below, May 25th through September 17th as follows: 

  • Garbage collection and disposal will be provided, but frequency and receptacles may vary.
  • Restrooms or porta potties will be open and cleaned 1-3 times per week.
  • Lawn areas will be mowed, but not fertilized or aerated.
  • Staff will continue to respond to reports of vandalism, but response times may increase. Priority will be given to Level I sites.
  • Miscellaneous inspections of equipment and facilities such as fences, signs, backstops, play equipment, benches, and tables will occur once a week.
  • Tree maintenance and shrub care will occur only to eliminate fire hazard and maintain safety standards.
  • Parking lots and gravel roads will be monitored for safety concerns, but generally will not be maintained.
  • Weed trimming will not occur.
  • Irrigation and potable water will be provided.
  • Noxious weed control will be completed as mandated by law within the Department’s capabilities.
  • Electricity will not be activated.
  • Tables will not be set out.
