Tape/CD Duplications and Transcripts

The County Clerk maintains the records of each court proceeding - all hearings, trials and rulings. Each court may record their sessions in a variety of ways:

Court Reported

Each judicial officer appoints a official court reporter to attend each term of the court and record accurate shorthand notes of its hearings, trials and rulings. The court reporter notes are filed with the County Clerk and retrieved when needed by the court reporter to transcribe or review. If a transcript of a verbatim report of proceedings is required, it is requested directly from the assigned court reporter (who will transcribe their notes). Please refer to the Superior Court for the Court Department and contact information.

Video Recorded

Some courtrooms are equipped with a Video Recording device to record the proceedings. The Court's judicial assistant operates the video recording device and the video tape records are filed with the County Clerk. If a transcript of a verbatim report of proceedings is required from video tape, it is requested directly from the assigned judicial assistant. Please refer to the Superior Court  site for the Court Dept. and contact information.

Tape Recorded

If a court reporter is not available to attend the court's hearings and trials, a cassette tape recorder may be used. These cassette tapes are logged and maintained by the County Clerk after each session of court. If a transcript of the proceedings is required, the Request for Tape / CD Duplication must be filled out and presented to the Clerks Office. Each Tape costs $10.00 to duplicate. Once tapes are purchased, a transcriber is hired to produce the transcript in paper form. The Clerks Office is not allowed to contact a transcriber on your behalf, make arrangements, or defer payment - these are the requestor's responsibilities.

Digital Recorded (CD)

Some courtrooms are equipped with a Digital Recording device to record the proceedings. These records are maintained electronically by the County Clerks Office. If a transcript of proceedings is required, the Request for Tape / CD Duplication must be filled out and presented to the Clerks Office. Each CD costs $25.00 to duplicate. (Please note the entire proceeding may not fit on one CD. The requestor is responsible for payment for each CD required to duplicate the proceeding - $25.00 each.) Once CDs are purchased, a transcriber is hired to produce the transcript in paper form. The Clerks Office is not allowed to contact a transcriber on your behalf, make arrangements, or defer payment - these are the requestor's responsibilities.
