Chattaroy Rd Bridge #3804
The bridge replacement project will include a new single span bridge with pre-stressed concrete girders with cast-in-place concrete deck and barrier. The bridge project will be rebuilt on or near the existing alignment. The bridge approaches will also be improved.
The Chattaroy Bridge Project will replace a deficient and failing concrete bridge, reconstruct the approach roadway, and stabilize the creek banks to prevent erosion. The foundations supporting the east end of the existing bridge have been severely undermined by scour which has resulted in significant cracking of the concrete. The new concrete bridge will use a combination of deep foundations and footings bearing on bedrock to ensure that the bridge will be unaffected by scour of the creek bed. It is anticipated that the road will be closed in mid June of 2010. Construction will take place through 2010 with an estimated completion date of Spring 2011. Once constructed the bridge and roadway will be about 5 feet wider than the existing and in essentially the same location.
