Meet Miss Spokane Interstate Rodeo

Once up a time in a land filled with endless trees, sweet smelling hay fields, and a river flowing right through the middle, Tim and Joyce Montgomery raised a long-legged, green-eyed, brown-haired, spirited little girl they had named Courtney.  She grew up strong-willed like her mother, stubborn like her father, and with a loving and compassionate soul like them both.
Courtney followed in the footsteps of her mother and sister plunging head first into the love of horses and horseback riding through 4-H.  She competed many years at the county level and qualified and competed at the state level for seven years.  She participated in both western games as well as performance classes with her trusty steed, Cowboy.  Together the two grew to be one and after their time spent at the Pend Oreille County Fair they challenged themselves to carry sponsor flags for local rodeos.  And just like that...the fire was lit!  In 2009, Courtney and Cowboy carried sponsor flags in Cheney, Omak, Cusick, and Davenport.  After one season they were hooked and this led to competing for Courtney's first rodeo representative title and winning the Clayton Pee-Wee Rodeo Princess crown.  The journey continued and she stayed close to what runs in her "jeans" by representing the Newport Rodeo in 2011 and the Pend Oreille County Fair and Rodeo in 2013 like her mother before her.

This year, Courtney is honored to be crowned Miss Spokane Interstate Rodeo to continue to share her love for the sport and the western traditions that we strive to keep alive today.  She is pleased to be the connection between the contestants, fans, volunteers, and sponsors for our beautiful Lilac City and the Spokane Interstate Rodeo.
Courtney, now 20 years old, enjoys her other job at CarMax where she works in the service department helping customers to understand different repairs made to their vehicles while delivering an unrivaled customer service experience.  In her quiet time, Courtney enjoys spending time with her family, reading, hiking, and on occasion, taking some time to catch up on her Netflix list.

"I am more than ecstatic to represent Spokane and the Interstate Fair and Rodeo as their 2015 Queen.  I am looking forward to traveling around Washington, Idaho, and Oregon to tell everyone about our little slice of heaven.  Hope to see you all down the rodeo road!"
