On Wednesday, October 7th, SCRAPS received over 44 cats at the shelter. “We are so overwhelmed right now with cats. Normally we take in 20 cats per day, but with more than double the number in one day we have even had to convert our isolation room to an adoption room to hold all the cats we have,” said Nancy Hill, SCRAPS Director.
SCRAPS is therefore running a special today, tomorrow and Saturday (October 8, 9 and 10) in which all cats, including kittens, will have their adoption fee waived and the only cost associated with adopting a cat will be the $15 pet license. All cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
“It has been a perfect storm, a down economy, kitten season and the removal of 16 cats from a home yesterday in Spokane. There are more than 50 cats available for adoption at this time,” continued Nancy Hill. This is a great time to find and adopt your new best friend. SCRAPS hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 12: 00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Cat licenses for Spokane County are only $15.
SCRAPS is located at 2521 N. Flora Road (east side of Industrial Park, off of Sullivan Road). For more information and/or directions, please call SCRAPS at (509) 477-2532.
