The Wastewater Operations section provides inspection, operation and maintenance of the greater Spokane County’s Wastewater Collection System. We make every effort to provide reliable, cost-effective, timely and courteous service to the public.

The primary responsibility is to ensure the Wastewater Collection system functions properly. The collection system continues to expand each year due to growth of the areas we serve.

The wastewater flows generated, come from households such as sinks, showers, toilets, washing machines, etc. and are combined with wastewater flows from Business and Industries. The combined wastewater flows are transported by gravity through the Spokane County’s wastewater collection lines. In low lying areas the wastewater is pumped to higher elevations and all of the wastewater ultimately flows into large Interceptor pipes that end at the City of Spokane’s “Riverside Park Water Reclamation Facility” (RPWRF) for treatment.

The Spokane County Wastewater Collection system is currently made up of 26-Wastewater Pumping Stations, 36-miles of pressure force-mains, 2-flow monitoring stations, 488-miles of gravity sewer collection pipes, and over 11,000-manholes.

Spokane County Utilities Wastewater Operations provides for emergency services 24-hours per day.

If you have questions about the Wastewater Collection system, or a problem to report, contact  Wastewater Operations at 477-1984.
