Work-Life Balance

Ten paid holidays are observed by County employees. Up to 12 paid days off per year for vacation and 12 days per year for sick leave. Positions on PTO have no wait period to use leave and earn 21 days per year.

Medical-Dental Insurance

For healthcare, we offer a comprehensive package of two medical plans including prescription drug benefits & vision care; Deductibles range from $200 - $500 and we offer very low monthly premium cost shares. Long Term Disability Coverage

Retirement Plan

Spokane County employees are automatically included in the Washington State Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS, PSERS, and LEOFF). Both the employer and the employee contribute to the plan.

Life Insurance

The County provides a $10,000 employee group life insurance policy to each employee. This benefit is paid in full by Spokane County. Tax Deferred Compensation

Employees may supplement their retirement income and save money on taxes by participating in this optional County program.


Free counseling through Deer-Oaks Employee Assistance. Onsite classes discussing budget assistance to stress reduction techniques. Yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong and women's self-defense classes through our Sheriff's Department, all available at a low cost.
