The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program allocates an estimated $1.9 million in federal funds per year to sub-recipients throughout the Spokane area to conduct activities that improve the lives and living conditions of low and moderate income county residents. The department allocates these funds each year through a Request For Proposal (RFP) process and provides technical assistance and oversight to sub-recipients to ensure compliance with all applicable federal requirements. Sub-recipients use CDBG funds to improve local infrastructure, provide needed human services, improve parks and public facilities, increase recreational opportunities, and create jobs for low-income individuals
