As Director of Business Operations, Christopher Wiese oversees a 58.9-million-dollar budget for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. This funding supports regional efforts to provide cost-effective law enforcement services throughout many cities and rural towns. This contracting approach takes advantage of many economies of scale for services not only through Patrol, Investigations, Training, Dispatch, Forensics, Fleet Services, and Traffic Enforcement, but also provides funding to support the talent and resources through programs like the Air Support Unit, Explosives Disposal Unit, SWAT, K-9, Marine Enforcement Unit, Search and Rescue, and the School Resource Deputy program, etc.
Christopher began his service at Spokane County in 2002 as an Accountant in the Auditor’s Office and was then promoted to Senior Accountant in 2005. Later that year, he was selected to be the Finance Manager of the Geiger Corrections Center. In 2010, his financial responsibilities expanded to the operations involving the Downtown Jail after the two facilities merged to form Detention Services. In 2012, Christopher accepted the offer as Director of Business Operations for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
In addition to government, Christopher has provided accounting and financial leadership for many different industries over the past twenty-plus years, including manufacturing, timber, and medical facilities. His dedication to listening and assisting staff with new ideas and projects reinforces his commitment to respectfully challenge and support them. This allows a constant opportunity for process improvement and emphasizes efficiencies. It is through the dedication of the talented staff Christopher works with as a team that creates a successful work environment and provides professional customer service for not only the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office but, ultimately the taxpayers.
Christopher has been married for 27 years to a wonderful and supportive wife and has two energetic boys. As a pilot, he holds a Commercial Multi-Engine rating and his hobbies include dirt bikes and being outdoors.
