Mica Peak Trail Plan & Development
The development of the Mica Peak Trail Plan was made possible through a NOVA grant from the Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) and matching Conservation Futures M&O funds. Throughout 2016, Spokane County worked with Alta Planning & Design and various stakeholders to develop a non-motorized recreational trail plan for the 911-acre Mica Peak Conservation Area (now over 1,700 acres in size). The trail plan involved numerous public meetings, volunteer mapping days and stakeholder interviews throughout 2016. The outcome of this effort was the creation of a blue print for Mica Peak that includes renovation of existing trail, development of new trail, restoration of habitat and the installation of four season trail signage.
Currently, this project is in the trail development phase, which includes volunteer trail work by Washington Trails Association and Evergreen East Mountain Bike Alliance. When completed, the trail system will include over 14 miles of multiple use trails, include the County's first ever "flow trail," a directional mountain bike trail. Trails will be marked with trail signs as well as winter trail signs (blue diamonds).
