Undersheriff Khris Thompson has been a full-time civilian law enforcement officer for over 26 years and has over 30 years of total law enforcement experience, with his time serving as a Security Specialist in the United States Air Force. He began his civilian law enforcement career with the Airway Heights Washington Police Department in June of 1996.
In April of 1999, Undersheriff Thompson was hired as a lateral Deputy Sheriff for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. While working full-time for the Sheriff’s Office, he attended Spokane Community College and earned his Associate of Applied Science degree in Administration of Justice.
During his time with the Sheriff’s Office, he has served as a patrol deputy, field training officer, TAC unit member, advanced patrol procedures instructor, defensive tactics instructor, plain-clothed specialty unit deputy, patrol corporal, domestic violence investigator with the major crimes unit, controlled substance investigator, patrol sergeant, property/drug unit investigative sergeant, property/drug investigative unit lieutenant, major crimes/sex crimes unit lieutenant, canine unit lieutenant, SIIR Team Commander, and Forensic Unit Laboratory Director.
Undersheriff Thompson is currently assigned as the Investigative Division Commander.
