Replacement and Modernization of Community Park Irrigation Systems for Holmberg, Northwoods, and Pine River Parks
Introduction
On July 12th, 2022, the Spokane County Board of County Commissioners awarded up to $675,000 from the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Funding - through the Clean Water: Water Conservation ARP category - to Spokane County Parks, Recreation & Golf to replace and modernize irrigation systems at Holmberg, Northwoods, and Pine River community parks. The goal is to reduce water consumption and allow for a responsive watering approach - adjusting to weather conditions to reduce the amount of water used at all four sites. Many of these irrigation systems were designed and installed in the late-1980s-to-early-1990s before much of today’s irrigation technology was available.
