Bridge No. 4902 | County Road Project C3239 Project Type: Bridge Replacement Project Manager: Michael Duke Jr., P.E. Design Year: 2020 Construction Year: 2021 Contractor: LaRiviere, Inc.
This bridge is located on Frideger Road just east of the Elk-Camden Road/Frideger Road intersection in north Spokane County, Section 04, T 29N, R 44E, WM. The existing bridge over Little Spokane River was constructed in 1957. It was found to have severe distress in the bridge girders, rotation of the abutments, scoured footings and was posted with weight restrictions.
The existing bridge was 30 feet in length and 26 feet wide curb-to-curb. The new bridge is constructed with 30” precast concrete slab girders founded on driven steel pile. It is lengthened to 58 feet long and widened to 28 feet curb-to-curb and will includes two 11-foot vehicle lanes and two 3-foot wide shoulders. Approaches on both the east and west ends of the bridge were reconstructed. A temporary traffic detour was in place during construction which routed traffic to Bridges Road and Madison Road.
The bridge replacement project took approximately 6 months to complete and was opened to traffic in November 2021. The project was funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
