Registered Sex Offender Arrested for Possessing Child Pornography
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Assault Unit Detectives arrested 50 year-old James L. Friedrich for 8 counts of Possession of Depictions of a Minor Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct 1st Degree and 1 count of 2nd Degree. Friedrich, already a Registered Sex Offender (Child Molestation 1st Degree), is being held on $250,000 bond.
This investigation began when detectives received a tip Friedrich was engaging in strange behavior and pictures of naked juveniles were observed on his phone.
On August 3, 2017, Detective Streltzoff gained enough information to request and obtain a search warrant for Friedrich’s cell phones and for the trailer where he was staying on Rambo Road.
On August 4, 2017, Detective Streltzoff obtained a search warrant to have the seized cell phones forensically examined by the Spokane County Forensic Unit. Once the forensic examination was completed, Detective Streltzoff began reviewing the data recovered from Friedrich’s phones.
On August 8, 2017, Spokane County Sexual Assault Unit Detectives arrested Friedrich for 9 counts of Possession of Depictions of a Minor Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct.
Friedrich is currently being held in the Spokane County Jail on $250,000 bond for Possession of Depictions of a Minor Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct 1st Degree (8 counts) and Possession of Depictions of a Minor Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct 2nd Degree (1 count).
