Spokane Police Department Press Release from August 30, 2017:
On August 29, 2017 at about 10:15 PM, police were assisting with an unrelated call near 9th and Perry when a citizen advised them of three young children who had been left unattended at their home for several hours. They soon found the children and began the process of finding the parents. Officers learned that a report several hours earlier of a naked male running through nearby Liberty Park might be the father of the children. Spokane County’s Air1 helicopter unit responded to assist in checking the area, helping to shorten a potentially time-intensive search. They were able to find the man near Altamont and I-90 and directed patrol officers to him, where they confirmed he was the father of the children. The man was disoriented and dehydrated and was transported to the hospital for further care, while officers ensured the children were safe as well.
This is just one of many calls where our officers are asked to care for the safety and well-being of members of our community, of all ages. By the end of this incident, patrol officers were able once again to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
