[ARCHIVED] “Iron Gates” Restoration Project Dedication, Friday, October 13, 2017

Spokane County Courthouse “Iron Gates” Restoration Project

Sponsored by:

 Spokane Law Enforcement Museum (SPLEM),

Westerners Spokane Corral, Nostalgia Magazine,

with the support of the Spokane County Commissioners,

and Courthouse Facilities Director Ron Oscarson

DEDICATION, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2017, AT 11 A.M. AT 1100 W. MALLON

The gates to the courtyard of the Spokane County Courthouse stood for almost 70 years before they were taken down in 1970, when the old jail was demolished after the Public Safety Building was built.

These gates were located in 2008, and are being restored. Working in cooperation with the above partnership, the project is to place the gates back near their original location with historical data displayed.

The archway led to the courtyard where the last public hanging of March 1900 took place. Inset shows close up of the gates. (Picture courtesy MAC Museum 42782-44 and SPLEM)

Now it is your time to get involved. We are currently trying to raise an additional $20,000 to help pay for this historical preservation project. The Spokane Law Enforcement Museum is a non-profit organization, any donation is tax deductible.

There are a number of ways you can donate:

□ Cash, or monetary donations by check payable to Spokane Law Enforcement Museum, or by credit card.

□ Purchase a 6" X 6" square tile printed with your wording on aluminum for $1,000 to be placed on the end of
the monument in memory or in honor of someone special.
