[ARCHIVED] SCAM operating in Country Homes Blvd. neighborhood.

On Monday, February 5, 2018, Spokane County Public Works received a call from a concerned citizen about a possible SCAM operating in the Country Homes Blvd. neighborhood.  According to the information they received, the caller was contacted by her 88-year old mother who reported the following:  A man came to her home and told her that he was a contractor hired by Spokane County to cut back low-hanging tree branches and bushes that are crowding sidewalks.  The suspect told her that it would cost $400 and that she had to pay before the work could be done.  He added that he had a seasonal contract with Spokane County and that she would be reimbursed by the county when the contract was completed.

THIS IS A SCAM!!!

If you are approached by someone claiming you have to pay for work required by Spokane County (or any government jurisdiction) – try to take a photo of the vehicle and/or get a license plate number and report it to Crime Check at 456-2233.  Reporting possible SCAMS to Crime Check helps law enforcement to track suspected criminal activity.
