Sheriff Knezovich Commissions 3 New Deputies -

First Group to Attend Our Pre-Academy Training Program

Please help us welcome your 3 new Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies.  They were sworn in by Sheriff Knezovich on Monday, March 19, 2018 in front of family and friends.   They will be the first group of new Deputies to attend our Pre-Academy Training Program designed to start training now instead of delaying their hiring date until an opening at state academy is available.

Deputy Devin Sontag is 31-years-old and originally from the Tri-Cities area. He moved to the Spokane area in 2006 to attend Eastern Washington University where he earned a Master’s Degree in Biology and Environmental Sciences.  He is an avid outdoorsman, a rock climbing instructor and enjoys bee keeping and gardening.

Deputy Rebecca “Becky” Lederle is 30-years-old and was previously employed as a Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Detentions Deputy since 2010.  She grew up in south Spokane County and attended Freeman High School.

Deputy Stephan Blaakman is 25-years-old, originally from Rochester, NY and recently moved to the north Spokane County area.  He has worked primarily in the customer service field and enjoys outdoor activities such as kayaking, hunting, and skiing.

We welcome you and your families to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
