Early Monday afternoon, a spill occurred at the North County
Transfer Station on the tipping floor. Three employees displayed symptoms ranging from
irritated skin to vomiting and were transported to local hospitals for
observation. The transfer station is currently closed! Clean
Harbors is conducting an investigation on scene to determine the contents of
the spill and the origin. We apologize for any inconvenience to the
public and recommend that tomorrow (Tuesday) private and commercial haulers call in advance to see if
the transfer station has reopened. The number is 509.477.6800. We also have guidelines for safely disposing of Household Hazardous Waste on our website.
