
Sexual Assault Unit Detectives Charge Suspect with
9 Counts of Possession of Child Pornography
Spokane Valley Sexual Assault Unit Detective Nate Bohanek arrested and charged 47-year-old Marc D. Dye with 10 counts of Possessing Depictions of Minors Engaging in Sexually Explicit Conduct. This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
Spokane Valley Sexual Assault Unit Detectives and assisting Major Crimes Unit Detectives began investigating allegations they had received regarding Dye.
On April 30, 2018, Detective Bohanek and Sergeant Rosenthal met with Dye and conducted a consensual interview. During the interview, Dye admitted to viewing pornography but denied possessing child pornography and stated he would turn his computers over and allow them to be searched.
On May 7, 2018, Detective Bohanek received notification from a Spokane County Digital Forensic Specialist videos depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct were discovered on one of the computers.
Deputy Bohanek requested Spokane Valley Patrol Deputies respond to Dye’s apartment, located in the 6000 block of E. 6thAve., where they contacted and arrested Dye for Possession of Depictions of Minors Engaging in Sexually Explicit Conduct.
Dye was transported to the Spokane County Jail where Detective Bohanek booked him on eight counts of 1st Degree Possession of Depictions of Minors Engaging in Sexually Explicit Conduct and one count of 2nd Degree Possession of Depictions of Minors Engaging in Sexually Explicit Conduct.
Additionally, several thousands of still images recovered from Dye’s computer still need to be examined in conjunction with the ongoing investigation, leading investigators to believe additional charges are possible.
