Suspect Arrested for Sexual Misconduct with a Minor

This morning, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Assault Unit (SAU) Detectives arrested 37-year-old Wesley G. Perez charging him with Sexual Misconduct with a Minor 1st Degree and Communications with a Minor for Immoral Purposes.  Perez, a teacher at the time of the reported incident, was booked into the Spokane County Jail.

On May 23, 2018, just after 8:30 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Office SAU and Patrol Deputies contacted Perez in a parking lot at Mill Rd. and Hastings Rd. and safely took him into custody without incident.

This investigation began on April 18, 2018 when a Mead School District Official received an anonymous letter stating Perez, a teacher for the district, began an inappropriate relationship with a high school student in the spring of 2017.

School Officials immediately reported the letter to the School Resource Deputy who began to investigate the allegations and notified SAU Detectives.

During the ongoing investigation, SAU Detective Nate Bohanek developed probable cause to charge Perez with Sexual Misconduct with a Minor 1st Degree and Communications with a Minor for Immoral Purposes   leading to today’s arrest.

This investigation remains active as Detectives continue to conduct interviews and process evidence.

Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation is urged to call Sexual Assault Unit Detective Nate Bohanek at 509-477-3223.
