Fatal Crash in North Spokane County

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigators responded to the scene of a one vehicle crash where the driver was pronounced deceased and two passengers were transported to a local hospital.

On June 2, 2018, just after 9:00 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one vehicle crash in the 18700 block of N. South Bank Rd. in North Spokane County.

Initial information indicated a 1997 Chevrolet P/U was traveling south on N. South Bank Rd. when it attempted to pass another vehicle.  The young adult driver lost control of the vehicle, went off the roadway and struck a fence and a tree.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The two young adult passengers were transported, one by ambulance and one by Life Flight, to a local hospital for treatment.

Traffic Investigators were called to the scene where N. South Bank Rd. remained closed until approximately 4:15 a.m. as they continue the investigation.  Impairment, speed and reckless driving appear to be possible contributing factors of this fatal crash.

The Spokane Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased at a later time, when appropriate.

One of the passengers was treated for minor injuries and released.  The other passenger remains hospitalized with what is believed to be serious, but non life-threatening injuries.
