During the month of June, Public Works is joining with the Regional Solid Waste System and asking motorists to be "Load Warriors" and make sure their loads are secure for transport.
At this time of year, you'll see cars and pickup trucks overloaded with household items that are being moved to a new address...or yard waste that's headed for a transfer station/dump. Whatever you may be transporting, please make sure it is covered and securely tied down. The reason is simple - anything flying out of your truck or off the roof of your car can hit the vehicle behind you, causing a crash, injuries and even death!
During the month of June at the Spokane County Solid Waste Transfer Stations and the Waste to Energy Facility, they are looking for motorists bringing in loads that are covered and tied down...in other words - SECURE. Those who do a good job will receive a "Load Warrior" window cling for their vehicle. They also have temporary tattoos for the kids! For more information, go to www.spokanecountysolidwaste.org.
