
Fatal Vehicle/Pedestrian Crash on 57th Avenue
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit Investigators responded to the scene of a vehicle/pedestrian collision earlier this evening. The adult male pedestrian was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The adult male driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and has been cooperative. Impairment is not believed to be a factor.
On January 25, 2019, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of a vehicle/pedestrian collision on 57th Avenue near Hailee Lane.
Arriving Deputies learned the pedestrian was attempting to cross 57th Avenue, at Hailee Lane, when he was struck by an eastbound SUV. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative. Impairment is not believed to be a factor.
The pedestrian was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Traffic Unit Investigators responded and will remain on-scene for several more hours as they work to determine what led to this fatal collision.
S.C.O.P.E. SIRT Team Volunteers also responded to assist with traffic control.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decedent at a later date, when appropriate.

This is not only extremely dangerous to everyone involved, but it also hampers the investigation and could destroy important evidence. **
At this scene, an uninvolved driver failed to do so and drove through the scene. The adult male driver was contacted and issued a $124 infraction.
