Citizen Reports Person Threatening to “Shoot” Sheriffs for Not Enforcing I-1639

Yesterday afternoon, Crime Check received information regarding Facebook posts threatening to kill Sheriff Knezovich specifically and other Sheriffs who don’t back I-1639.

On February 4, 2019, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Spokane County Crime Check received the information regarding these threats from a concerned citizen who had read these threats online and provided the name of the Facebook account.  The caller reported posts which stated Sheriff Knezovich is going to get a bullet in his skull.  The caller said another threat posted by this person stated he would shoot sheriffs that don’t back I-1639.

A check of the Facebook account with the name provided by the caller showed a comment referencing Republicans stating, “i am going to kill every single one of them” on a shared news story reporting where Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones announced he was instructing his deputies not to enforce Initiative 1639.

More posts referencing I-1639 said, “sheriffs that are non compliant will be shot. by me.” and “Ozzie Knezovich is gonna get a bullet in his skull”.

Spokane County Detectives are investigating these online threats, and this information will be forwarded to the JTTF and law enforcement agencies across the state.
