[ARCHIVED] Project Spotlight: Transit Stop Crosswalk Safety Project

57TH OVERVIEW

The Transit Stop Crosswalk Safety Project will provide improvements of transit stop and crosswalk safety along Wall Avenue at the Country Homes Park-and-Ride, and at six (6) crossings on 57th Avenue. The construction project at Wall Avenue and along 57th Avenue, extending from Perry Street to Ferrall Street, provides improvements to access by adding crosswalks with pedestrian refuge islands, improved lighting and pedestrian crossing warning signs will be installed along with ADA approved ramps, and transit boarding concrete pads at locations where they are not currently installed.

The Transit Stop Crosswalk Safety Project was originally proposed in November of 2017 to address the busy arterial roadways for both transit users and neighborhood pedestrians. The grant funding was provided by the State of Washington and construction was scheduled to begin in Spring 2019. The project is expected to be completed by the end of May.
