UPDATE:  Detectives Now Investigating as a Homicide


Yesterday afternoon, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives executed a search warrant at the apartment of Arezu and Wahid Kashify in north Spokane and located the body of a deceased female hidden inside.  

The search warrant was obtained June 4, 2019, through information gained during this ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Arezu Kashify, who was last seen on May 25, 2019.

Detectives remained at the apartment throughout the evening, and with the assistance of Spokane County Sheriff’s Forensic Unit personnel, they processed the scene and collected evidence.

Investigators now considering this a homicide investigation. 

They continue to seek anyone who can provide information regarding Arezu Kashify, or her husband 34-year-old Wahid Kashify, who purchased a one-way airline ticket and left the United States on May 28, 2019.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decedent at a later date, including cause and manner of death, when appropriate.

UPDATE: Missing Adult, 24-year-old Arezu Z. Kashify 

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives continue their efforts to locate 24-year-old Arezu Z. Kashify to check her welfare.  

The Spokane International Airport Police located the 2014 Toyota Sienna over the weekend.  The vehicle was seized and brought to a secured area.  Investigators, with the assistance of the Spokane County Forensic Unit, will process the vehicle in an attempt to locate any potential evidence which may assist them in determining if a crime occurred or possibly help find Arezu.

Child Protective Services is overseeing the care, and welfare of the two Kashify’s children and they are safe.     

Detectives continue to ask anyone who may have information regarding the whereabouts of 24-year-old Arezu Z. Kashify or can provide any information regarding her activities prior to her reported last seen date of May 25, 2019.

Detectives Attempt to Locate Reported Missing Adult Female 

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives are attempting to locate 24-year-old Arezu Z. Kashify to check her welfare.  If you have seen her, her vehicle, or can provide information to assist Detectives, you are asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233, reference #10072915.  

On May 30, 2019, a friend of Arezu Z. Kashify reported her as a missing person, stating she has not been seen or heard from since May 25, 2019. 

It was also reported, Arezu Z. Kashify was possibly having marital difficulties, doesn’t have access to money, and it is very unusual for her not to have contact with her family and friends. 

During the initial investigation, Detectives learned Kashify’s children were dropped off at school/daycare on May 25th, but neither Kashify or her husband returned to pick them up and attempts to contact them were unsuccessful.

Kashify’s husband purchased a single, one-way airline ticket on May 28th and left the United States.

Arezu Z. Kashify as a 5’04”, 140 lbs., female with brown hair and brown eyes.

Their white 2014 Toyota Sienna, Washington license plates BLE3753 has not been located.  (This Vehicle has been Located)
