Thieves Steal Liberty High School Band Instruments Worth Thousands

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary that occurred over the weekend, where over $15,000 worth of band instruments were stolen from Liberty High School.   Liberty School District Administrators are working with the School Resource Deputy and Detectives to identify the suspect(s) responsible and hopefully recover the stolen instruments.

On January 13, 2020, Liberty High School Principal Fletcher contacted Deputy Bratton, Liberty High School’s Resource Deputy and advised several band instruments last seen in the school’s band room on Friday, appeared to be missing.

During a subsequent search, the musical instruments were not located, and a criminal investigation was initiated.  Evidence of pry marks to an exterior door and window of the school were found, indicating a possible point of entry for the suspect(s).  Multiple instruments are believed to have been stolen sometime over the weekend, with an estimated value of over $15,000.

Investigators are working to collect evidence as well as reviewing hours of school surveillance footage to identify and hold the person(s) responsible for the burglary/theft.
