Three Vehicle Fatal Crash – Argonne, North of Bigelow Gulch Road

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigators are at the scene of a three-vehicle crash on N. Argonne Road, north of Bigelow Gulch Road.  One driver was transported to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, one driver was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the third driver did not appear to be injured.

On May 11, 2020, at approximately 6:40 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 7500 block of N. Argonne Road for a reported three-vehicle crash with serious injuries.

Spokane County Traffic Unit Investigators also responded to the scene, due to the seriousness of the reported injuries, to conduct an investigation to determine what caused this fatal crash and if impairment is a factor.

The initial information indicates the driver of a red Ford truck, traveling south on Argonne, crossed over the centerline and struck a northbound red Honda passenger car head-on.  The Ford began to roll and collided with a second northbound vehicle, a silver GMC pick-up.

The adult male driver of the Ford truck was transported to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.  Investigators determined he is the causing driver, and probable cause for impairment was established to obtain a search warrant for a blood sample.

The adult male driver of the Honda was unfortunately pronounced deceased at the scene.

The adult male driver of the GMC did not appear to be injured and was medically evaluated at the scene.

SIRT Team volunteers responded to assist with traffic control as Argonne Road, between Bigelow Gulch and N. Bruce Road, remains closed as the investigation continues.  North and southbound traffic is being diverted onto Bruce Road.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased driver at a later time, when appropriate to do so.

This investigation into this fatal crash continues, and charges are expected in the future.

No further information is available at this time.
