Suspect Armed with a Knife Chases Victims

Spokane Valley Patrol Deputies arrested a male suspect armed with a knife after he reportedly threatened and chased three victims around a parking lot. The suspect was quickly located and taken into custody without incident. He was booked into jail for three counts of Assault 2nd Degree.

On July 11, 2020, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Spokane Valley Deputies responded to the report of a male chasing and threatening people in a parking lot located in the 10400 block of E. Sprague in Spokane Valley.

The male, later identified as 27-year-old Sheldon L. Brown, was said to be armed with a knife.  Arriving Deputies learned Brown ran south, across Sprague.  He was described as wearing black shirt and blue pants.

Deputy Criswell located a male matching Brown’s description on the south side of U-Haul.  Brown followed commands and was safely taken into custody by Deputy Criswell and Deputy Kullman.

Deputy Lederle contacted the victims and learned they were standing in the parking lot when they observed Brown.  He was yelling and waving a knife around.  Brown charged toward the victims yelling, “I’m going to stab you in the chest!”.  One victim, a female, and her infant got in her car as Brown chased the two male victims.

All three victims stated they feared for their lives.

Brown was identified as the suspect in the incident and arrested.  He was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for three counts of Assault 2nd Degree, where he remains with his bond set at $10,000.

Thankfully, no one was injured during this dangerous and potentially deadly incident.
