[ARCHIVED] National Voter Registration Day

National Voter Registration Day is September 22

SPOKANE COUNTY, September 21, 2020 - National Voter Registration Day is tomorrow, Tuesday, September 22. With only two months before the General Election, voters in Washington can still register to vote and receive a ballot.

Eligible citizens can register online at VoteWA.gov, using either a Washington state driver’s license or I.D. VoteWA.gov is Washington’s online voter portal that also offers ballot drop box and election office locations, a personalized voter guide, and more.

Voters also have the option of downloading and printing a registration form (available in 23 languages) and sending it via U.S. mail. Voters can also register in person although locations and times will change depending upon the day. These are posted on the Spokane County website at www.spokanecounty.org/Elections

In recognition of National Voter Registration Day, the Washington Secretary of State’s Office is mailing postcards to over 380,000 eligible, but unregistered residents of Washington State. Over 17,300 Spokane County residents will receive their postcards beginning today, Monday, September 21.

“Voting is one of the greatest privilege and responsibility that a citizen can exercise,” said Vicky Dalton, Spokane County Auditor. “Your ballot shapes local, state and federal governments.”

In order to qualify for the Nov. 3 General Election, the deadline to register online or by mail is Oct. 26. However, voters can register in person during business hours and up to 8 p.m. on Election Day, at the Elections Office, or a designated voter service center.
