Single Vehicle Fatal Crash on S. Oak Road

Spokane County Traffic Unit Investigators responded to a one-car crash in the 8100 block of S. Oak Road.  The juvenile, unlicensed driver, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On October 7, 2020, just prior to 8:30 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the scene where a vehicle left the roadway, crashed through a fence, and came to rest in a field.

The driver, a 16-year-old male, was located inside and was determined to be the sole occupant of the vehicle.  Due to the severe injuries sustained, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.

Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit Investigators were called to the scene to continue the investigation.

It was determined the juvenile driver, who was unlicensed, took his parent’s car without permission sometime during the evening.  His parents reported this information at approximately 12:30 a.m. when they discovered their car and son were gone.

Investigators believe speed and inexperience were factors in the tragic fatal crash.
