
Motorcycle/Car Fatal Collision on E. Sprague
A motorcycle rider was critically injured when the driver of a Subaru crossed into the westbound lanes of travel, colliding head-on with the motorcycle. Citizens stopped to help, and with arriving Spokane Valley Deputies, rendered first aid. The rider was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
On June 22, 2021, at approximately 10:45 am., Spokane Valley Deputies were advised of a severe motorcycle/vehicle collision on E. Sprague, near Gillis. The initial information stated the adult male (40s) rider of the motorcycle was critically injured and was not breathing.
Deputies arrived within a minute and joined passersby, who were rendering aid. Spokane Valley Fire and AMR personnel arrived and assumed care.
Initial information gathered at the scene indicates the motorcycle was traveling west in the 11000 block of E. Sprague. The Subaru, traveling east, crossed into the westbound lanes of travel, head-on with the motorcycle.
The rider was transported to the hospital for additional life-saving care, but he succumbed to his injuries despite everyone's efforts.
The adult female driver (30s) of the Subaru appeared to have minor injuries but was transported to the hospital for further observation.
All westbound lanes of travel on Sprague were closed for several hours. Spokane Valley Traffic Unit Investigators responded to determine what led up to and caused this fatal collision.
This remains an active investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.
