Through Building & Planning’s updated and enhanced portal (Here) customers will be guided through the complete process for any building permit. For those seeking a permit, after clicking the “Apply for a Permit” button, the site will walk through an entire submittal checklist, including any documents need to upload. Once the checklist confirms submittal is complete, one click sends the submittal to all relevant departments for direct review, and the applicant will receive confirmation of submittal.
“Where’s my permit” is usually the next question that follows a submittal. An applicant can review the status of their project in real time to see what reviews are completed or pending. Staff are fully available to answer any questions by phone or through email. Building & Planning is also scanning and digitally archiving all land and permit records to expedite the permitting process.
Commenting on these new services, Spokane County Planning Director Scott Chesney stated,
“Customer Service is paramount to our Building & Planning Department — our job is to help people build things. That is why we are reorganizing our office to better serve the needs of customers in Spokane County.”
James Moore. Spokane County Director of Building and Code Enforcement, added, “When customers experience the personalized one-on-one service experience for all permitting needs and reviews, in a one-stop-shop setting, I think they will be extremely pleased. To better serve our customers we are making enhancements to our office and offering appointments via the web to avoid long waits and help the next customer waiting. We will also be providing our walk-in customers a one-on-one experience to meet with one of our staff to help determine a customers’ needs and meet with a Project Coordinator to manage the permitting system.”
