ROAD CONSTRUCTION


Bigelow Gulch Phase 3
Road Reconstruction (remove and replace), culverts, stormwater, guardrail and illumination system. Road is OPEN! Completed: August 31, 2021. 

Weile Ave: from Thierman Rd to Bigelow Gulch Rd 

Motorists should expect lane restrictions (both directions, both lanes). Road is OPEN!

 

Bigelow Gulch Rdfrom Weile Ave to Argonne Rd

Motorists should expect lane restrictions (both directions, both lanes). Road is OPEN!

 

Chattaroy CTB
 Crews are pulverizing the existing pavement and using Portland cement Type 2, spreading and mixing and other work. Completed: August 31, 2021.

From US2 to Elk-Chattaroy/Hardesty Intersection – Fully CLOSED on July 19, 2021 (local traffic only).

Motorists should expect delays. Flaggers and a pilot car may be present. Please slow-down in the work zone.

 

Frideger Road Bridge Replacement
 The road is CLOSED while the existing bridge is being removed for the construction of a new structure over Little Spokane River. The project includes the removal of the existing roadway and widening with the construction of the new roadway. Completed: October 31, 2021.

Frideger Rd: from Bridge #4902 Over Little Spokane River to Bridge #4902 Over Little Spokane River – Road is CLOSED – Bridge OUT!
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes): Detour route in place on Bridges Road, Madison Road and Frideger Road. 

 

Guardrail Safety Project 
 Crews are installing new guardrails at the locations below. Completed: August 31, 2021.

Old SR-195 Hwy: from Bridge #3112 Over Pine Creek & BNSF to County Pit #13-22
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). This is not the EXACT location. Project is from Mile Post 2.2 to Mile Post 3.1 

Williams Lake Rd: from Mullinix Rd to Weisman Rd 
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). This is not the EXACT location. Project area is Mile Post .90 to 1.72. 

Valley Chapel Rd: from Palouse Hy to Bridge Over Stevens Creek
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): This is not the EXACT location. Project is from Mile Post .25 to Mile Post .90

Cheney-Plaza Rd: from Rock Lake Rd to Pine Grove Rd 
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). This is not the EXACT location. Project location is Mile Post 10.4 to Mile Post 12.5.


PRIVATE CONTRACTOR WORK BY PERMIT

 

Adams and 28th PUD P-2062 – Construct Walking Path
Adams and 28th PUD P-2062 – Constructing a walking path on Adams Road from the City of Spokane Valley limits to 30th Avenue. Completed: July 29, 2021.

Adams Rd: from 32nd Av to Spokane Valley City Limits
Road CLOSED: Road Closed - Adams Road from Spokane Valley City Limits to 32nd Ave.

 

Gas Service Construction
 Avista crews are working near the intersection of Mayfair Road and Hastings Road to tap a gas main in the east-bound lane of Hastings, traveling south to 12235 N. Mayfair Road. Completed: July 23, 2021.

Hastings Rd: from Normandie St to US-395
Motorists should expect lane restriction (eastbound, all lanes). There will be an east-bound lane shift with a closed center lane on Hastings Road from Normandie St. to Division. 

 

Install Gas Valve
Avista crews are installing a gas valve approximately 400-feet sound of 55th Avenue on the east side of Freya. Completed: July 23, 2021. 

57th Av: from Freya St to Freya St 
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). Motorists are reminded to slow down in the work zone and watch for flaggers.


 
Morrison Ranch Phase 2
Red Diamond Construction (509) 990-5426 is realigning South Barker Road at 32nd Avenue. The project includes paving and grading.. Dates: July 26 – August 13, 2021. 

32nd Avenue: from Barker Rd to Saltese Lake Rd 
Road CLOSED: From East Saltese Lake Rd at 32nd and S. Barker Rd, approximately 1,500’ east of the intersection. Motorists are reminded to slow down in the work zone and watch for flaggers.

 

Sewer Tap and Water Main
 Hattenburg Excavating (509) 263-5231 is installing a sewer tap and water main south of Regina Avenue on the east side of Whitworth Drive at 11508 N. Whitworth Dr. The project includes a 20’x30’ asphalt cut. Completed: August 3, 2021. 

Whitworth Drive: from Regina Ave to Elcliff Dr
Road CLOSED: Closed on Whitworth Dr from Regina to Elcliff.  

 

STA Four Lakes Station

WM Winkler crews are paving First Avenue. The project includes the sidewalks, curbs and gutters – along with demolishing part of Spokane Street. 150-feet of road will be reduced to a seven-foot wide walking path south of First Avenue. Completed: July 30, 2021.

First Avenue: from Electric Ave. to Cheney Street.

Road CLOSED on First Avenue on the east and west side of Highway 904 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as needed.


CITIZEN EVENT BY PERMIT


Spokane Valley Cycle Celebration – Sunday, July 25, 2021. 
Cyclists will be on the roads listed below from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2021. The routes include: 25-Miles from 8th Ave to Henry Rd, to Saltese Lake Rd to 32nd and to Barker. 50-Miles from the Centennial Trail to Upriver Dr to Fruit Hill to Lehman to Pleasant Prairie Rd to Morgan to Bruce to Argonne to Peone to Moffat to Forker, 8th to Henry to Saltese Lake to 32nd. Motorists should slow down and watch for cyclists!

 Asphalt Overlay on Cheney-Spangle Rd from Bradshaw Rd to Wells Rd. to Cheney-Spangle Rd. Expect delays, lane restrictions and flaggers. Dates: July 19-22, 2021.

Asphalt Overlay - Various Roads in Spokane County 
 Overlay is a paving method of applying a new layer of asphalt to a deteriorating surface. Completed: August 31, 2021.

 

St Michaels Rd: from Lincoln Rd to End Pavement/Start Gravel
Motorists should expect lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): Be prepared to Stop!

Morgan Rd: from Bruce Rd to Lehman Rd 
Motorists should expect lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): Be prepared to Stop- Flaggers and a pilot car may be present. 
 

Bradshaw Rd: from Starr Rd to Fairfield City Limits
Motorists should expect lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): Be prepared to Stop- Flaggers and a pilot car may be present.  
 

Chip Seal - Various Roads in Spokane County 
 Chip Seal is the application of a special protective wearing surface to an existing pavement. Completed August 31, 2021.

 

West Newman Lake Dr: from Muzzy Rd to Starr Rd 
Motorists should expect delays (both directions, all lanes): Watch for Flaggers and pilot cars.

Whitworth Dr: from US-395 to Hawthorne Rd 
Motorists should expect delays (both directions, all lanes): Be prepared to Stop! Watch for flaggers and pilot cars. 

Westmoreland Rd: from US-2 (Newport Hy) to Cedar Rd

Euclid Rd Bridge Closure
 Euclid Rd Bridge is closed and a detour is in place. Replacing the bridge is the responsibility of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

Weed Spraying Staley Rd

Crews are spraying weeds along the right-of-way. Completed: September 16, 2021.

Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes): Watch for crews along the right-of-way.
