Capital Press recently joined Treasurer Baumgartner on a visit to two Spokane County farm families to learn more about how Spokane County public investments in Federal Farm Credit bonds support U.S. agriculture across the country. The Treasurer's Office invests over $1.4 billion of local government cash reserves in a fixed income portfolio. Investments are guided by the principles of safety, liquidity, and investment income in that order. Investment income is returned to local governments which supports public services without raising taxes. Click the link for the full story on the recent visit with Farm Credit members.
