
Juvenile Suspect Arrested for School Threat in Medical Lake
Earlier this week, a student notified the Medical Lake School Resource Deputy of another student's possible social media threat.
The Juvenile Suspect was contacted and later arrested for making the threat. A search of his property did not yield a weapon. The suspect remains in the Juvenile Detention Center as Detectives continue to investigate this incident.

On November 1, 2021, Medical Lake School Resource Deputy Carlos began investigating a possible social media threat made toward the school. He contacted School Officials and advised them of the information, and started an initial investigation.
He contacted the 16-year-old juvenile suspect and, as the investigation continued, developed probable cause to arrest and charge the suspect with violating RCW 9.61.60, Threats to bomb or injure property.
A search of the suspect’s property at school was conducted, and a weapon was not located. The suspect was booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center, where he remains as this investigation continues.
Major Crimes Detectives have continued to investigate this incident throughout the week as they work to determine what occurred and if anyone else was involved.
The initial information indicates the suspect was planning an event and had even researched ways to carry it out. However, there was no evidence at the time to suggest there was an imminent threat to the safety of students or staff.
The student who reported this information is an example of how threats like this should be reported to Deputies or School Officials. Remember, See Something, Say Something. Working together, threats like these can be investigated immediately to help keep our schools safe.
