[ARCHIVED] County Prepares to Open New Trentwood Trailhead

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – Spokane County is planning to open a new trailhead parking area to serve the growing Antoine Peak Conservation Area, Saturday, November 20th.

Located on the north edge of the City of Spokane Valley at 17711 East Wellesley Avenue, the new trailhead is fully paved and features 20 parking stalls, native landscaping and connecting pathways to a recently expanded trail system on Antoine Peak Conservation Area. This new trailhead also features dedicated parking for trucks and horse trailers.

Spokane County Parks, Recreation and Golf has also installed a trailhead webcam that will help visitors trip plan and avoid particularly busy times.

With the Trentwood Trailhead’s opening, the community will be able to access the 231-acre “Etter Ranch addition,” acquired through the Conservation Futures Program in 2019, and approximately 2.4 miles of new trail constructed by volunteers from Washington Trails Association and Evergreen East Mountain Bike Alliance.

The project’s construction was funded through a combination of Real Estate Excise Tax (REET), Conservation Futures Maintenance and Operations (M&O) dollars, and a Spokane County Investment Pool (SCIP) Loan from the Spokane County Treasurer. The trailhead was designed by SPVV Landscape Architects and constructed by Red Diamond Construction.
