
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Welcomes New Deputies
On May 2, 2022, Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich swore in and welcomed our newest Deputies, one Entry Level Deputy and two Lateral Deputies. Please help us welcome them and their families to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Chad Florance is 31-years-old, was raised in Spokane Valley, and attended West Valley High School. Deputy Florance recently separated from the U.S. Army, where he served our country since 2015 as a Combat Engineer stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Deputy Mathew Kelly is 34-years-old and was born in Spokane but grew up on the west side of the state since childhood. He began his law enforcement career with the Washington State Patrol (2008), lateraled to the Medina (WA) Police Department (2017), and then to the Sumner (WA) Police Department (2020).
Deputy Tanner Whitaker is 28-years-old and from Royal City, WA. He is a Lateral Deputy from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, where he has been employed as a Patrol Deputy since 2016. He was also assigned to the Moses Lake Regional Tactical Response Team.
We welcome Deputy Florance, Deputy Kelly, Deputy Whitaker, and their families to the Sheriff’s Office and Spokane County.
