ROAD CONSTRUCTION


Bigelow Gulch Rd - Phase 6
 Improvements to Bigelow Gulch Road include clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation, borrow, embankment compaction, precast concrete drywells, culverts, pedestrian tunnel, structure excavation, illumination system. Completed: October 31, 2022.


Forker Rd: from Bigelow Gulch Rd to Progress Rd
Lane Restrictions (Both Directions, All Lanes): Progress Road Opened at Bigelow Gulch/ Forker Road. Open at Progress Road.***Intersection of Wellesley and Sullivan will be CLOSED June 20 through August 12, 2022. 


Progress Rd: from Wellesley Av to Spokane Valley City Limits
Road closed: Progress Road from the intersection of Progress and Bigelow to the intersection of Crown and Progress.***Intersection of Wellesley and Sullivan will be CLOSED June 20 through August 12, 2022.


Sullivan Rd: from Upland Dr & Ct to Wellesley Av 
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Watch for flaggers during construction.

 

Sullivan Rd: from Wellesley Av to north city limits of Spokane Valley
Road Closed: Sullivan Road from the intersection of Wellesley and Sullivan Road to the City limits ROAD IS CLOSED.

 

Wellesley Av: from Progress Rd to Tolford Rd 
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Watch for flaggers during construction. 

 

Waikiki Road Bridge
 Improvement of the Waikiki Road Bridge No. 2606 - Rehabilitation of the concrete deck by scarifying the existing slab, replacing the concrete overlay, and asphalt approaches will be raised to match the new deck elevation. Completed: June 20, 2022.


Waikiki Rd: from Mill Rd to Rutter Parkway 
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). One-lane roadway over bridge will be controlled by automatic signals. From June 11-13, 2022, the bridge will be closed for weekends with a detour in place.  


PRIVATE CONTRACTOR WORK BY PERMIT


Installation of water & sewer main
 Installation of water & sewer main will include tree trimming or removal as needed. Completed: June 30, 2022.

Carnahan Rd: from Fairview Av to Grace Av
 
Full closure on Carnahan through both the Fairview and Grace intersections. Residential access will be maintained.

 

Chronicle Rd: from Grace Av to Fairview Av
 
Full closure on Chronicle through both the Grace and Fairview intersections. Residential access will be maintained.


 
Fairview Av: from Custer Rd to Chronicle Rd
 
Full closure on Fairview through both the Custer and Chronicle intersections. Residential access will be maintained.

 

Frederick Av: from Carnahan Rd to Custer Rd 
Full closure on Frederick through both the Carnahan and Custer intersections. Residential access will be maintained.

 

Kramer Parkway Rehabilitation
 Kramer Parkway Rehabilitation. Completed: September 19, 2022.

Barker Rd  from Sprague Av to Appleway Av
 
Road Closed: Henry Rd closed. Detour to Barker Rd & E. Sprague

 

SP-1659-20 HONEY COMB SPRINGS
 Misc. work in the Right-of-Way for subdivision includes paving, grading, conduit and utilities. Completed: July 5, 2022.

Mohawk Dr: from Dishman-Mica Rd to Madison Rd
Road Closed: Full road closure on S Mohawk at the Dishman Mica intersection with detours in place.


Water Main Installation 
 Whitworth Water District transmission project in Zones 3-8. Completed: August 8, 2022.

Dartford Dr: from Commellini Rd to Mill Rd
 
Motorists should anticipate a “rolling” road closure on N. Dartford Rd. from Commellini Rd to Mill Rd.  


CITIZEN EVENT BY PERMIT


Elk Days Parade
 The parade route starts on Elk-Chattaroy Road (where the Boondocks store is located), winds through downtown Elk and ends at the park on Elk-Camden Road. Date: June 18, 2022.

Elk-Chattaroy Rd: from Elk-Camden Rd to Bridges Rd
Road Closed: 
Sections of Elk-Chattaroy, Elk-Camden and Bridges Road will be CLOSED and/or RESTRICTED with lane closures beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the parade is finished (noon). 

 

ROAD MAINTENANCE

(Road maintenance projects are subject to change due to weather conditions and other road maintenance priorities)


Asphalt Overlay
 Apply asphalt over large areas of roadway for preservation. Completed: June 24, 2022.

Aspen Meadows Dr: from Lois Dr to Lois Dr
 
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Motorists are asked to slow down and watch for flaggers.  

 

Chippewa Ct: from Lois Dr to North End Of Road
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Motorists are asked to slow down and watch for flaggers.   

 

Julia St: from Wilding Av to Lincoln Rd
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Motorists are asked to slow down and watch for flaggers.   

 

Lois Dr: from Aspen Meadows Dr to Chippewa Ct
 
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Motorists are asked to slow down and watch for flaggers.  

 

Prairie View Rd: from Griffith Rd to Spring Valley Rd
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Motorists are asked to slow down and watch for flaggers.   

 

      Prairie View Rd: from Griffith Rd to Waverly City Limits 

Expect delays (both directions, all lanes) and a pilot vehicle to guide motorists through the project.

Wilding Av: from Yale Rd to Julia St

Expect delays (both directions, all lanes) and a pilot vehicle to guide motorists through the project.

 

Culvert Cleaning/Ditching/Shouldering
 Annual Maintenance. Completed: October 7, 2022.


Deer Park-Milan Rd: from Deer Park City Limits to Milan-Elk Rd
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). Motorists are reminded to slow down in work zones and to watch for crews. Storm Washout repair


Hayford Rd: from Melville Rd to Westbow Rd
 
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). Motorists are reminded to slow down in work zones and to watch for crews.

 

Inland Rd: from Seven Mile Rd to Old Trails Rd
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). Motorists are reminded to slow down in work zones and to watch for crews. Storm Washout repair

 

Seven Mile Rd: from SR-291 to Inland Rd
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). Motorists are reminded to slow down in work zones and to watch for crews. Storm Washout repair


Thomas Mallen Rd: from Champion Dr to Hallett Rd
 
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). Motorists are reminded to slow down in work zones and to watch for crews.

 

Grading Gravel Roads/Street Sweeping
 Crews are grading gravel roads as the weather permits. Grading cuts down “washboard” surfaces and creates a smoother traveling surface. Again, as the weather permits crews are sweeping streets to remove gravel and reduce the amount of airborne dust.
