[ARCHIVED] Christmas in July, a Holidays and Heroes Fundraiser

Christmas in July, a Holidays and Heroes Fundraiser

Tonight, at Hops n Drops Restaurant in Spokane Valley

Please join us a Hops n Drops (Spokane Valley Mall location) for Christmas in July this evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  20% of sales will be donated to Holidays and Heroes to help families in Spokane County this holiday season.

The Holidays and Heroes Program assists families in need during the holiday season.  We do this with the support of the Spokane County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, Spokane County Sheriff’s Chaplaincy Services, Spokane County Sheriff’s Community Oriented Policing Effort (S.C.O.P.E.), Spokane Valley Police Department, and several community businesses.

Holidays and Heroes allows us to connect with children and their families who are in need of food and gifts for Christmas.   This interaction provides a fun way to spend time and get to know the youngsters about staying in school, away from drugs, and out of trouble while showing them that Deputies are here and willing to help.

The families receive a food basket, which includes at least one complete holiday meal, fruit, milk, juice, healthy snacks, canned food, vegetables, and more.

On the day of the event, children are picked up at their homes by Deputies/Officers in patrol cars to go shopping.  They are then brought to meet Santa and have lunch.

Scores of volunteers wrap the youngster’s presents and prepare a large food basket.  Afterward, all the gifts and food are loaded into the patrol cars, and children are brought home with smiles on their faces, lasting memories, and several new law enforcement friends.

The children and their families are the focus of Holidays and Heroes, but volunteers, Deputies/Officers, and the community also benefit from this day of giving and fun.  Holidays and Heroes reminds us all we should help those in need and be positive role models while giving back to our community.

We try to help as many families as possible, but we need your help.  Holidays and Heroes in Spokane County costs approximately $10,000 each year, and it is only possible with your help and the support of our local business.
