Road Construction and Maintenance Update

August 26 to September 2, 2022

  
SPOKANE COUNTY, August 26, 2022 – Crews are working on a variety of construction and maintenance projects. Please slow down in work zones and watch for flaggers.
 
ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Bigelow Gulch Rd - Phase 6

Improvements to Bigelow Gulch Road include clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation, borrow, embankment compaction, precast concrete drywells, culverts, pedestrian tunnel, structure excavation, illumination system. Completed: October 31, 2022.

Forker Rd
: from Bigelow Gulch Rd to Progress Rd
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes): Progress Road open at Bigelow Gulch/ Forker Road. Open at Progress Road – use as detour.***Intersection of Wellesley and Sullivan is open with four-way stop signs. Outside lanes are closed.

Progress Rd
: from Wellesley Av to Spokane Valley City Limits
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Progress Road from the intersection of Progress and Bigelow Gulch – to the intersection of Crown and Progress.

Sullivan Rd
: from Upland Dr & Ct to Wellesley Av
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes). The intersection of Wellesley and Sullivan is open with four-way stop signs. Outside lanes are closed.
 
Sullivan Rd: from Wellesley Av to north City Limits of Spokane Valley
Sullivan Road is CLOSED from the intersection of Wellesley and Sullivan Road to the City limits
 
Wellesley Av: from Progress Rd to Tolford Rd
The intersection of Wellesley and Sullivan is open. Slow down and watch for flaggers.

Euclid Road Bridge

Removing and constructing new bridge and road approaches; including asphalt pavement, signing, striping, erosion control, filter drain, beam guardrail, and miscellaneous structures. Project start TBD/tentatively begins on September 2, 2022.

Euclid Rd: from Bridge #1508 over Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks to Lyons Rd.
Road Closed: Bridge is closed. Use detour.

Little Spokane Connection Road and Separated Pathway

Crews will construct a separated, shared-use path with HMA. The project will include a crushed rock surface, roadway excavation, embankment compaction, concrete curbing, culvert pipe, ditch excavation, temporary erosion, sediment and traffic control. Date: August 29 to September 30, 2022.

Wandermere Rd: from Little Spokane Dr Connection to Dartford Dr
Lane restrictions (both directions, all lanes). Local access only.

Kramer Parkway Rehabilitation

Kramer Parkway Rehabilitation. Completed: September 19, 2022.

Road Closed: Henry Rd closed. Detour to Barker Rd & E. Sprague.
 
Replace Existing Water Main
Replace a six-inch city water main. Completed: September 3, 2022.

Yale Rd: from 61st Av to 65th Av
Road CLOSED: Yale Rd closed from 61st to 65th.

Sewer Tap
Connect a new residence to the sewer line in the street. Completed: August 31, 2022.

Farwell Rd between Perry St. and Morton St.

SR-290 (Trent Avenue) Barker Road Project
Permanent striping on Trent Avenue in both directions. Completed: September 1, 2022.

Wellesley Av: from SR-290 (Trent Av) to Campbell Rd
Road CLOSED: Wellesley Ave from N Campbell Rd to E Trent Ave. Please slow down in the work zone and watch for flaggers.
 
ROAD MAINTENANCE
(Road maintenance projects are subject to change due to weather conditions and other road maintenance priorities)

Asphalt Overlay

Apply asphalt over large areas of roadway for preservation. Dates: August 19-31, 2022.

Colbert Rd
: from Bernhill Rd to Boston Rd
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present.

Elk-Chattaroy Rd
: from Nelson Rd to Drew Ln
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present.

Starr Rd
: from Hauser Lake Rd to Moffat Rd
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present.

Starr Rd
: from Moffat Rd to SR-290 (Trent Av)
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present.

Starr Rd
: from West Newman Lake Dr to Hauser Lake Rd
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present.

West Newman Lake Dr
: from Lakeview Rd to Lakewood Ln
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present.

Woolard Rd
: from US-2 (Newport Hy) to Yale Rd
Road CLOSED: Follow detour signs.

Crack Sealing

Application of a flexible sealant in cracks to prevent further break up on asphalt roads. Completed: August 31, 2022.

Spotted Rd
: from Enoch Rd to Dahl Rd
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present.

Staley Rd
: from Stevens County Line to Monroe Rd
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present.

Woolard Rd
: from Little Spokane Dr to US-2 (Newport Hy)
Expect delays (both directions, all lanes). Flaggers will be present.

Ditching/Shouldering
Watch for workers on the edge of the roadway. Completed: September 2, 2022.

Ballard Rd: from Dartford Dr to Austin Rd
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes).
Stringham Rd: from Rockford City Limits to Molter Rd
Flaggers may be present (both directions, all lanes).
 
Crack Sealing/Street Sweeping/Weed Spraying
As the weather permits crews are sweeping streets to remove gravel and reduce the amount of airborne dust, spraying roadside weeds, and crack sealing. Please slow down in work zones and watch for crews.
