[ARCHIVED] Female Suspect Found Inside Home Wearing the Victim’s Clothes and Jewelry

Female Suspect Found Inside Home Wearing the Victim’s Clothes and Jewelry

Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies located a female suspect inside a home wearing the victim’s undergarments, robe, and jewelry.  The suspect was booked into the Spokane County Jail for Residential Burglary.  The jewelry was returned to the victim, but she declined the return of the clothing.

On August 30, 2022, at approximately 1:10 am., Deputy E, McDade, Deputy N. Overbay, and additional Deputies responded to the report of a residential burglary at a gated home near N. 5 Mile Road and N. Berridea Road in northwest Spokane County.

The caller reported that her son arrived at the residence, noticed lights going on and off in the home, and found an unknown female inside.  The female suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Shawn M. Lamere, moved from the basement to the living room and the upstairs portion of the house.

When the Deputies arrived, they contacted several people in the front yard and were advised only Lamere remained inside.

Deputies went upstairs to the bedroom, where Lamere was last seen, and found the door locked.  They gave several announcements for Lamere to unlock the door and surrender, but the commands were ignored.  Having been advised there was possibly a firearm in the bedroom, and with no response from Lamere, Deputies concerned for her welfare forced the door open.

They observed Lamere lying facedown on the bed, covered with blankets.  Lamere was slow to respond but was taken into custody without further incident.

After being advised of her rights, Lamere said she climbed up the mountain to the castle and slept in the bedroom because a ghost told her to do so.

Deputies discovered Lamere was wearing the victim’s underwear, robe, and jewelry.  The jewelry (approximately $2,200.00) was returned to the victim, but she declined the return of her clothes.

Lamere was provided medical treatment and cleared.  She was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Residential Burglary.
