Deputies Respond to Suicidal Male on Argonne Bridge

This morning, Spokane County Sheriff’s and Spokane Valley Deputies responded to a possibly suicidal male hanging from the Argonne Bridge with one arm.  When Deputies arrived, the male fell into the water and did not surface.  Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Operations Team Divers responded and located the male underwater.  Spokane Valley Fire and AMR assisted with life-saving medical aid, and the male was transported to the hospital.

On September 13, 2022, at approximately 6:50 am., Spokane County and Spokane Valley Deputies responded to the report of a male hanging off the Argonne Bridge railing.  The caller said it appeared that the male wanted to jump off the bridge.

When Deputies arrived, the male was hanging by one arm off the bridge.  As they approached to try and help, the adult male descended from the bridge and immediately submerged below the water's surface.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Operations Team and Spokane Valley Fire Water Rescue Team arrived and began trying to locate the male.  Divers found him under the water and were able to bring him to the surface.   Rescuers removed him from the water, and he was provided medical aid by Spokane Valley Firefighters and AMR personnel.

The male was transported to a hospital for additional treatment, where he was later pronounced deceased.
