Serious, Two Vehicle Crash in N. Spokane County

Spokane County Traffic Unit Investigators are at the scene of a two-vehicle collision at N. Elk Chattaroy Road and N. Nelson Road.  Life Flight transported two of the people involved to the hospital.  The third person involved received minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.

On September 14, 2022, at approximately 2:50 pm., Spokane County Deputies responded to the report of a two-car injury crash at the intersection of N. Elk Chattaroy Road and E. Nelson Road.

Arriving Deputies learned a red Dodge truck with two occupants and a Kia Niro with one occupant were involved.

The two juvenile occupants of the truck sustained severe, possibly life-threatening injuries and were transported by Life Flight to the hospital.  The adult male driver of the Kia received minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.

Due to the seriousness of this crash, Traffic Unit Investigators were called to the scene to conduct the investigation.  SIRT Team Volunteers also responded to assist with traffic control.

Initial information indicates the truck was traveling east on N. Elk Chattaroy Road, preparing to turn east on E. Nelson Road, and failed to yield the right of way to the Kia traveling north on Elk Chattaroy.  It is believed the occupants of the truck were not wearing seat belts.

The intersection of N. Elk Chattaroy Road and E. Nelson Road is closed to vehicular traffic and will remain closed for the next few hours while the investigation is conducted.  Please avoid the area.
